Location tracking

For teams that work on the road or on site, Punchly can record where people are while their timer is running. A manager then sees the route of a working day on a map.

What is recorded, and when

• Only while a timer is running. Never between timers, and never when the timer is off.
• Only by the phone app, on phones where the person allowed it. The web and the desktop app record no location.
• A point when the timer starts, then about every 500 metres.
• Points are deleted after 7 days.

Switch it on

1. Open Workspace settings, General, and find Track location.
2. Tick Record where members are while their timer runs.
3. Read the summary and press I agree.

Everyone in the workspace is told that location is now recorded. Each phone then asks its owner for the location permission.

What members see on their phone

• Before the phone asks for permission, Punchly explains what is recorded and who can see it.
• They can choose Not now. Their timer works exactly the same, and their map stays empty.
• While location is being recorded, a notification stays visible on the phone.
• They can see their own points in the phone app, and delete a day of their own points there.

Look at locations

1. Open Activity and the Locations tab.
2. Use the arrows to choose a day in the last 7.
3. Click a person to see their route and a list of their points with times.

A red dot beside a name means their timer is running now.

Who sees whose location

• Everyone sees their own.
• Managers and admins see the points of the people whose time they can already see in reports, and nobody else’s.
• Nobody can delete another person’s points, admins included.
