Jira Cloud

Connect Jira and your team tracks time against the real work: each Jira project you choose becomes a Punchly project, and each of its issues becomes a task. Punchly only reads from Jira. Nothing is written back.

Connect

  1. Press Connect to Jira.
  2. Sign in to Atlassian and allow Punchly to read your Jira.
  3. If your account reaches several Jira sites, choose the one to add.

Punchly sees only what that Atlassian account can see. More sites, for example a client’s Jira, can be added with Add a Jira site.

Choose which projects to bring in

  1. Press Jira projects on the site’s row.
  2. Tick the projects.
  3. Press Review changes to see what will happen, then Apply.
  • Tasks are named with the issue key and summary, such as “PROJ-12 Fix login”.
  • Open issues come in, and resolved ones changed in the last 90 days.
  • Under Advanced, a JQL filter can narrow which issues come in, for example to leave out epics.
  • Unticking a project later archives it in Punchly. Its tasks and time stay.

Keeping in step

Punchly checks Jira every 15 minutes, and hourly once nothing has changed for a while. Sync now checks at once.

Good to know

  • Jira owns the names. A project or task that comes from Jira cannot be renamed in Punchly. Rename it in Jira and Punchly follows.
  • A chip on the project and on each task opens it in Jira.
  • Everything else works as for any project: rates, access, estimates, reports.
  • If the person who connected Jira leaves the workspace, the card says so. Reconnect with an account that will stay.
