I can’t add or change time
When Punchly refuses to save time, it says why. These are the reasons, and what to do about each.
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Stop your timer first” | Your timer is running. Time cannot be added by hand while it runs. | Stop the timer, then add the time. |
| “Can’t save, field missing: project” | The workspace requires that field. | Fill it in. The timer cannot be stopped without it either. |
| “Adding and editing time manually is turned off” | The workspace allows the timer only (Force timer). | Use the timer. An admin can change the rule. |
| A padlock, or “before the lock date” | The date is before the workspace’s lock date. | Ask an admin. Admins can still change locked time. |
| A green tick, or “This week is approved” | The period was approved and is closed. | Ask your approver to withdraw the approval. |
| “This time overlaps another entry” | The workspace blocks overlapping entries. | Change the times so they do not overlap. |
| “This project is archived” | Archived projects take no new time from members. | Pick another project, or ask an admin to restore it. |
| “This task is done” or “assigned to specific people” | The task is closed, or limited to certain people. | Pick another task, or ask the project’s manager. |
| “You can only edit your own entries” | It is someone else’s time. | Only admins, and team managers where allowed, can edit others’ time. |
I cannot find a project in the picker
- It may be private and you have not been added. Ask the project’s manager or an admin.
- It may be archived.
I deleted an entry by mistake
On the Time tracker, press Recently deleted and restore it. Deleted entries are kept for 30 days.
My timer is still running from yesterday
Punchly does not stop a timer by itself. Stop it, then click the entry’s end time and set when you really finished.
